Oil-borne PCP and arsenic from the preserving operation soaked into the soil around the tanks, the recycling pond, and the treated-wood yard. A land-use covenant recorded in 2013 (Sonoma County) now bars homes, schools, and day-care over this Restricted Soil Area, bars new water-supply wells in a companion Restricted Groundwater Area, and regulates digging into it (Water Board notification below 3 ft); residual PCP remains below about 5 ft. The sawmill ground east of the tracks is outside that restricted area.
